Ticker&Tape ("we") runs tickerandtape.com from Buenos Aires, Argentina. We collect as little as we can, we never sell your data, and we do not show ads.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and your password, stored only as a salted hash (we cannot read it).
- What you save: your watchlist, chart settings and the lines and notes you draw on charts.
- Newsletter: your email address, when you subscribed and confirmed, and whether you unsubscribed.
- Technical data: our hosting and email providers keep standard logs (IP address, browser, time of the request, email delivery status) to run and protect the service.
Without an account, your settings and drawings stay only in your own browser (local storage). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Visit statistics: to know which sections and charts are used, each page view sends us the section, the ticker on screen, the site language, the screen width and the site you came from; our provider adds the country. We do not use cookies for this and we do not store your IP address or any identifier: unique visitors are counted with a code computed from the request that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you. If your browser sends "Do Not Track", we do not count your visits. Statistics are kept for up to 400 days.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and sync your watchlist and drawings across devices.
- To send the emails you ask for: account emails (such as password resets) and, if you subscribe, the weekly newsletter.
- To keep the Site secure and working (for example, limiting repeated failed sign-ins).
- To understand, in aggregate, how the Site is used and improve it (visit statistics and the day each account was last active).
- Tickers that users star are combined, without emails, so the nightly data build covers them.
Who processes it
We use a few providers to run the Site: Cloudflare (API, database, domain and email forwarding), Resend (sending email) and GitHub (hosting the website files). They process data on our behalf and may store it outside Argentina, including in the United States. We do not share your data with anyone else, except if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Account data stays while your account exists. Sign-in sessions expire after 90 days and password reset links after one hour. Newsletter records are kept while you are subscribed and for a short time after you unsubscribe, so we can respect that choice. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete its data within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to unsubscribe from any email, by writing to contacto@tickerandtape.com. Under Argentine Law 25,326 you have the right to access your data free of charge at intervals of no less than six months, unless you show a legitimate interest. The Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública, as the authority responsible for enforcing Law 25,326, handles complaints about the misuse of personal data. If you live elsewhere, you may have similar rights under your local law.
Security
Passwords are hashed, connections use HTTPS, and access to the database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever learn of a breach affecting you, we will tell you.
Children
The Site is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
